Students for Life of America:
The Nation is waking up: Record number of pro-life students to attend largest pro-life youth conference in the worldStudents for Life of America to host huge pro-life conference, focus on healthcare, and new mediaArlington, VA - A quarter of their generation has been wiped out through abortion. Healthcare legislation that would force them to pay for abortions-on-demand is on the table in Congress. Over 30 years of Roe v. Wade is at the forefront of their minds. And Students for Life of America (SFLA) will be hosting a record number of these individuals, mostly students, at their annual pro-life conference on Saturday, January 23rd at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
Having sold out the conference for the past two years, SFLA is expecting a record number of registrants this year from nearly two dozen states and 3 countries.
At the top of the agenda is what these students can do to oppose government funding of abortion, organize fellow students on their own campuses, and leverage New Media for the pro-life movement.
"The overwhelming response of students to this year's conference is very exciting," said Kristan Hawkins, executive director of Students for Life of America. "Recent polls have indicated that more and more Americans are identifying themselves as pro-life and the number of students we have attending the conference this year only reinforces the sentiments many of us hold in the pro-life movement - that the nation is waking up and seeing abortion in the true light it is."
Several pro-life leaders will be speaking at the conference this year including Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List and Mrs. Phyllis Schlafly of Eagle Forum.
"We hope to energize the next generation of pro-lifers and give them the tools and knowledge they need to lead this country to support a culture of life," said Hawkins.
